DIY Decora

There’s something about the tone of color from plastered materials that just feels so right.

These DIY decorative plastered flowers are great as just regular decor or can be made to be candle holders. They can easily be used as wedding decor or just as home decor for a house that could use more neutral decor (and which house doesn’t?!)

What You’ll Need

  • Plaster of Paris
  • Flowers (Stiff fibers not the one with the softer looser petals)
  • Small Candles (optional)
  • Wax Paper or Non stick sheet to dry them on

Step by Step Instructions

Start by mixing your plaster or Paris as per the instructions. It shouldn’t be too runny and have a mud like consistency with no lumps in it.

You can add a spoon full at a time until you get the desired consistency.

Step 2

Start dipping the flowers in the plaster of Paris. This can get pretty messy. Make sure plaster makes contact in between all the petals. If your flower is white and you do this step correctly you shouldn’t need to re dip the flower. Then put them on the wax paper or non stick surface for drying.

Step 3

If you plan to use them as candle holders, make sure you make an imprint using the candle you plan on using into the flower. This will make sure there is space for the candle to lay flat on it.
